Colors Adjust - Adjust hue, saturation or brightness of legend colors
Colors Adjust
enables you to adjust hue, saturation or brightness of the legend colors.
The themes which colors shall be adjusted must be active.
Saturation Color
: Select a hue that shall be intensified or diminished. You can choose between 8 basic colors (white, black, red, green, blue, magenta, yellow and cyan) plus the current color chosen from the color palette. With white and black only saturation and brightness will be changed (for all 3 RGB components are adjusted by the same amount), all other colors also change the hue (e.g. if red is added, only the red component will be changed).
Method
: There are two different mathematical formulas for adjusting the colors:
Add/Subtract:
The original color components are being kept for 100% and the chosen percentage of the new color will be added or subtracted (values above 255 respectively below 0 are being cut off). This method is especially suitable for adjusting the brightness of a legend, because all colors become brighter or darker by the same percentage. Very bright or very dark colors will turn to pure white or black though. Only the RGB components of the selected Saturation Color are changed (even with 100% this color is not reached - by adjusting with red for instance, dark red is changing to light red, green to brown and blue to violet).
Weighted Mean
: The original colors are adapted to the saturation color with the chosen percentage. This method is suitable to adjust the hue of a legend. The 3 color components are reduced by the chosen percentage and the new color added at the same percentage (if you choose 100% all colors will be identical with the new color).
Percentage
: The percentage of the color adjustment or saturation must be defined. It is recommended to use smaller values (10 - 40%). Using a negative value the specific adjustment is reversed (reducing instead of increasing the brightness respectively deviating instead of adapting to the color). An adaption can be reversed that way (not with higher percentages though, because there are too many identical colors that cannot be transformed to the original color anymore).
Legend Colors
: Define which colors you want to adjust:
Foreground
: Only foreground colors.
Background
: Only background colors.
Outline
: Only outline colors.
All
: All colors of the legend.
Click on the button to run the command. When finished, the status bar shows the total number of adjusted colors.
Examples
:
White, absolute, 25%: To each color 25% white is added (colors with a white component of >75% will turn to pure white);
White, absolute, -25%: From each color 25% white is reduced (colors with a white component of <25% will turn to pure black);
White, relative, 25%: Each color is turning 25% brighter relatively (dark colors are turning brighter intensively, bright colors only slightly, only white is turning to pure white).
White, relative, -25%: Each color is turning 25% darker relatively (dark colors are turning darker intensively, bright colors only slightly).
Black, relative, 25%: Each color is turning 25% darker relatively (bright colors are turning darker intensively, dark colors only slightly, only black is turning to pure black).
Black, relative, -25%: Each color is turning 25% brighter relatively (bright colors are turning brighter intensively, dark colors only slightly).
White absolute, x% No change, no matter which percentage is chosen (0 is added to the RGB components).
Black, relative, 50%: Mean value between the saturation color and black (every color is adapted to black at 50%).
Red, relative, 50%. Mean value between the saturation color and red (every color is adapted to red for 50%);
Red, absolute, 25%: 25% Red is added to every color (colors with a red component of >75% get a red share of 100%, dark red is turning light red, green is turning brownish and blue is turning close to violet).
